San Fermin's bull running among Top 10 spots to get adrenaline rush

San Fermin's running of the bulls in Pamplona-Iruña, one of the world's most popular festivals in which crowds of people make a mad dash alongside fighting bulls, was chosen among VirtualTourist's top places for travelers who enjoy testing their limits with exhilarating stunts, rides and thrills when the Travel-oriented community website announced its Top 10 spots to get an adrenaline rush.

The tradition, that was made famous in 1926 by Ernest Hemingway in his novel The Sun Also Rises, is described as  "a once-in-a-lifetime thrill that many adrenaline junkies include on their bucket lists".

The Running of the Bulls occurs during the San Fermin Festival, which runs each year from July 6 to 14, celebrating San Fermin, the patron saint of Navarra.

Each run takes place at 8 a.m., testing the skills and courage of participants, who must race alongside six fearsome fighting bulls along 875 yards (800 meters) of narrow, cobblestone streets linking the city's stables to the bullring. On the afternoon of each day, the bulls must face matadors in the ring.

"Just being a spectator to this event is an adrenaline rush!", the website says about the bull running.

Other Top 10 spots to get an adrenaline rush include Bungee jumping at the Macau Tower, China; Surfing Tavarua Island, Fiji; White Water Rafting in Africa; Heli-skiing in Valdez, Alaska; and rappelling in St. George, Utah.
